15 years ago today JLS released their debut single ‘Beat Again’! The track debuted at No.1 on the Official UK Chart and has been certified Platinum in the UK for exceeding 600,000 sales.

“So back in the day when we had finished the X Factor we were running up and down the country doing gigs to all the X factor songs we performed on the show but we knew we needed a massive single!!! Our record company Epic were on the hunt as we didn’t have time to get in the studio at that point so we knew we had to find an outside song! The first song we thought was going to be our first single was Everybody In Love! We were all certain it was ‘the one’. But then a song called ‘No Beat’ came along. We weren’t all convinced that it was the first single however Nick Raphael and Jo Charrington from Epic Records convinced us that this was the first single to go with and Everybody In Love second. We were scratching our heads but knew we had to trust these guys as they had the experience. We got into the studio and renamed it ‘Beat Again’ and releasing that song first turned out to be a master stroke of genius as Beat Again is our biggest selling single! If it wasn’t for that song (our first number one of five!) who knows if we’d still be here today! Big up Steve Mac and Wayne Hector the producer and songwriter of Beat Again because that track started the real journey of JLS and is a tune that will forever be the nucleus of our band!
