Curating some of the most significant music in the history of the world is an awesome responsibility. Once again we’re proud to present the men and women who answered the call, this week Video Project Coordinator, Aimee Durham.

What was the first record you ever bought?

The first record I remember was ‘Spice’ by the Spice Girls on CD. I am a 90’s baby so Spice Girls played a HUGE roll in my life, I used to dance around the living room as a little girl to all of their songs thinking I was in all the music videos, I always wanted to be Scary Spice. I even went to their reunion tour in ‘08 when I was in secondary school with all my girlfriends at the O2.

Who is your favourite Sony artist and what is your favourite Song/Album by them?

Oh my goodness there are so many to choose from! It has to be Beyoncé! She just breaks all the rules with every release she puts out and empowers women to feel confident with their own identities, she’s just an icon! My favourite has to be ‘Flawless’, whenever you’ve had a bad day put that song on and it will change your mood completely. I also have a huge soft spot for ‘Love On Top’ because it just reminds me of dancing around the kitchen with all of my friends at university. You just can’t help but dance to Beyonce!

I’m also a huge London Grammar fan so I’m so happy they are now on the roster! Hannah’s voice is just so beautiful I can’t help but fall in love with their music every time I hear it.

What’s the best gig you’ve been to? Or what was the first gig you went to?

The first gig I even went to was either Boyzone at Wembley or Party In The Park in Hyde Park, both with my Mum when I was probably around 8, I was really lucky that my Mum is a huge music fan so she took me to a lot of music events, I even got to see Beyoncé perform at Party In The Park.

The best gig that springs to mind is Anderson Paak at the Kentish Town Forum earlier on this year. I’m a huge fan of his and was so excited to see him live for the first time. The atmosphere was incredible for the entire set, the energy was electric with the crowd singing so loud to every song! You could see that he was blown away too which was really nice to see. He brought out Syd from The Internet who I also love so that was an extra bonus! It was just an awesome time from beginning to end. Would love to see him again!

Any stories you’d like to share from your time working in music?

Working in the music industry has always been a dream of mine so the fact that I’m now working for Sony Music just blows my mind every day. The people in this industry are so talented and amazing, working with them day in day out is such a privilege.

I love the ever changing and challenging environment that I’m faced with, it’s a pretty exciting place to work. Plus seeing a few famouses every day is always fun!
