In our continuing series highlighting the fine men and women of Sony Legacy, may we present Video Project Manager Sarah Grant.
What was the first record you ever bought?
Michael Jackson Thriller was the first album I owned being a child of the ’80s. I think the first album I bought with ‘my own money’ was Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet. I loved listening to Whitney Houston taped off my aunt’s record (vinyl) on my walkman bussing to school.
Who is your favourite Sony artist and what is your favourite Song/Album by them?
Daft Punk is definitely my favourite – Instant Crush off the latest album is the best Sony jam. Love Tribe Called Quest & their new album – bringing back conscious hip-hop! David Bowie (duh) Let’s Dance & Starman. Gotta mention my countryman Leonard Cohen – Waiting for the Miracle.
What’s the best gig you’ve been to? Or What was the first gig you went to?
Best gig ever was Peaches at Lovebox.
Nothing will ever beat watching her perform with a broken leg in a wheelchair commandeered by a fabulously topless queen. AC/DC With Axl standing in on vocals in 2016 at London Stadium was pure rock. Best fans ever. No pretention, just pure adrenaline. And anything at the Bala Key in Muskoka, Ontario.
What’s your favourite album?
Snoop Dogg – Doggystyle & Guns N Roses – Appetite for Destruction & The Cure Disintegration – gifted to me by a major unrequited crush! Teen emotions. blurgh!
Any stories you’d like to share from your time working in music?
Working at Abbey Road and casually walking past Johnny Marr was a pretty great moment. Meeting Leee from Imagination and talking about bathroom tiles is a close second.
