A quiet highlight from the oft-overlooked second album, this haunting video sees the Manics at their poetic best.
While recently touring the 20th anniversary of ‘This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours’, the inclusion of ‘La Tristesse Durera (Scream To A Sigh)’ in the encore served to remind not only just how underrated ‘Gold Against The Soul’, is, but also what a real and still relevant gem this single is.
Directed by Josh Taft, who had a busy 1993 also helming videos by Pearl Jam and Alice In Chains among others, this atmospheric video captures Manic Street Preachers in powerful flight, juxtaposed against the image of a forgotten war veteran.
It’s also one of the few chances you’ll get to see James Dean Bradfield sporting bleached hair.
